SELF-WORTH

What do you believe about your worth? That you aren’t good enough?

Be careful, you will try to prove that belief. You WILL find proof.

You may even create the evidence.

Not smart enough? Make sure you tell yourself and others that you aren’t intelligent so the expectations are low.

Not beautiful? Compare yourself to others to prove it. Criticize yourself whenever you get the chance.

Not successful? Don’t try and you’ll never fail.

Whatever you are telling yourself, STOP. The lies we tell ourselves are destructive.

I know, this was me.

Not just a little.

A constant string of damaging thoughts looping in my head.

What I had accomplished. How I looked. How many times I’d failed. How well I rode horses or ran or skied or insert whatever sport I did. How messy my house was. How I was as a wife. How often I yelled at my kids. My clothes, my hair, my butt. You get the idea.

All weapons to beat myself down.

I still catch myself doing it.

But I call myself out.

And if I don’t, my friends do (have I mentioned that I have the most amazing friends?).

Just writing these words brings tears to my eyes. So many years of cruelty to myself. That’s over. I don’t allow my kids to talk to themselves like this nor would I EVER talk to them the way that I talk to myself. So much unnecessary suffering at my own hands.

Here’s what I believe now: I’m pretty amazing. I’ve been through some hard stuff in my life. I’ve been a teacher and a mentor. I’ve inspired and changed lives. I’m messy and chaotic sometimes. I’m loud, goofy, and easily excitable at times. I’m honest and direct and expect the same. I love deep connections, they feed my soul. I used to protect myself so that I didn’t experience pain. But by doing that, I cheated myself out of feeling pure joy. I go all in and that can be painful and amazing at the same time. When it doesn’t work out, the hurt is intense. But this girl doesn’t give up. To experience true joy, we have to experience true sadness.

I’m not better than anyone else on this planet. But I’m just as good.

It can be hard to believe in yourself when you have all the evidence you need to prove your harmful thoughts.

Our thoughts are just the beginning.

Belief is powerful.

Acting on that belief will change your life.

Let me help you find your beliefs.

Let me show you how to take action.

Because you’re worth it.

You always have been.
